The uni POSCA PC-5M Medium Bullet Tip Paint Markers are a popular all-rounder for artists, illustrators, designers and creatives who want the control of a marker with the coverage of paint. Its rich paint produces clean, defined lines and an opaque, matte finish, making it useful for everything from fine artwork details to bold lettering and graphic designs.

How Does POSCA Paint Work on Different Surfaces?

POSCA markers use water-based pigment paint that is designed to provide strong, opaque coverage. The finish and permanence depend on the surface being painted.

SurfaceWhat to know
Paper, card and woodIdeal for drawing, illustration, lettering and graphic work.
Canvas and fabricsSuitable for artwork on canvas. For fabrics fix artwork by ironing the reverse side. Use paper to protect ironing board.
Stone and unglazed ceramicsFor rock painting and decorative projects.
Glass and glazed ceramicsSuitable for temporary designs; the paint can generally be removed from smooth surfaces.
Metal and plasticUseful for decoration and customisation. Test first, as the finish and durability depend on the material.

For artwork intended to last, particularly on objects handled frequently or displayed outdoors, check the surface preparation and appropriate sealing requirements before use.

How to Use Your POSCA PC-5M Marker

  1. Shake the marker well with the cap firmly attached to mix the paint. You’ll hear the ball bearing inside.
  2. Remove the cap and press the nib in gently, several times. Soon the paint will appear and begin to flow into the nib.
  3. Once the nib is filled with colour test the flow on scrap paper. Once the pen creates a solid line with a single stroke, it is ready to use.
  4. Allow the paint to dry between layers when building up opaque coverage.
  5. Replace the cap securely after use. Don’t forget to shake the marker before each use.
